247 tons of contaminated soil collected in Anapa following an oil spill

On April 10, an oil slick was discovered on the surface of the water near Anapa. A decision was made to quickly increase the combined force and resources involved in emergency response efforts. Today, 1,118 people and 205 pieces of equipment are involved in the work. An additional 40-person diving team has been formed, the Krasnodar Krai task force reported today.

Using satellite monitoring data, 220 square kilometers of water in the area where the oil products were discovered were surveyed. Approximately 28 tons of oil-containing mixture were recovered from the water surface. The Marine Rescue Service conducted an additional survey of the tanker wreck areas. No traces of oil contamination were found at the locations of the cofferdams or on the sea surface. "The source of the oil spill is presumably a civilian vessel attacked by a Kyiv regime drone outside Russian territorial waters. A definitive determination will be made based on the results of an examination of the recovered oil products," the task force reported.

From April 11th to 16th, oil spills were recorded at some areas of Anapa beaches. "The emission sites have been localized. Contaminated soil is being cleaned and removed. 247 tons of contaminated soil have been collected, and 229 tons have been removed, the statement said.
