A Stavropol resident has been convicted of recruiting for ISIS.

A military court in Rostov-on-Don sentenced Stavropol native Dalil Adzinov to a lengthy prison term, finding him guilty of recruiting for the Islamic State*.

The Southern District Military Court has been hearing Dalil Adzinov's case since November 2025. Adzinov was accused of assisting terrorist activity through recruitment (Part 1.1 of Article 205.1 of the Russian Criminal Code), which carries a sentence of eight to 15 years in prison.

According to the prosecution, in 2023, Adzinov decided to assist the international terrorist organization Islamic State* in the Stavropol Territory by persuading another person to commit a terrorist attack.

From December 1, 2023, to July 23, 2024, he sent this person messages and photographs that investigators deemed "inciting destructive and annihilating actions." In person, he urged the person to join ISIS*, calling for "religious and radical unity," according to a statement from the court's press service.

Adzinov was sentenced to eight years and six months in a maximum-security penal colony, with the first three years to be served in prison. Caucasian Knot has not yet received any comments from the defendant or his lawyer regarding plans to appeal the sentence.

Dalil Adzinov was born in Stavropol in September 2003, according to his entry in the Rosfinmonitoring register of terrorists and extremists. His information was added to the register almost a year before the case was filed in court, on November 8, 2024.

The court's press service did not specify Adzinov's relationship to the man who was targeted for recruitment. She also did not say whether Adzinov himself agreed with the accusations.
