A police officer from Novorossiysk was sentenced to a long prison term for treason.

The Krasnodar Regional Court sentenced a 63-year-old resident of Novorossiysk to 13 years in prison for treason.

According to investigators, the defendant, wishing to leave Russia for permanent residence in the United States, established contact with an organization controlled by the Security Service of Ukraine and carried out their instructions.

While working as a ship's cook on a floating crane, she collected and transmitted information to her handlers about military installations and ships of the Russian Black Sea Fleet located in Novorossiysk, Sochi, and Sevastopol. The defendant's criminal activity was identified and stopped by officers of the Federal Security Service (FSB) for the Krasnodar Territory, the press service of the Krasnodar Territory courts reported on their Telegram channel.

"At the court hearing, the defendant stated that she admits to her actions, but does not consider herself guilty," the press service said in a statement.

The court found the woman guilty of treason 1 and sentenced her to 13 years in prison, with one year of restricted freedom. The Novorossiysk resident will serve her sentence in a general regime penal colony.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that the Rostov-on-Don Military Court found Kuban resident Miloslav Oleynik guilty of treason and participation in a terrorist organization and sentenced him to 20 years in prison.
