A Dagestani woman caught in an avalanche has died.

Doctors were unable to save a resident of the village of Shaitli, who suffered multiple injuries after being caught in an avalanche. The woman is survived by four children.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," an avalanche covered two houses in the mountain village of Shaitli in the Tsuntinsky District, trapping a woman and her child. The victims spent more than eight hours under the snow before rescuers and volunteers pulled them out. The woman was hospitalized with multiple fractures; her seven-year-old child was unharmed.

The death of a woman rescued from snowdrifts in the Tsuntinsky District on the afternoon of April 13 was reported by the Dagestan Ministry of Health on its Telegram channel. The victim died despite prompt evacuation. "Rapid assistance and intensive care were ineffective," wrote Israfil Israfilov, head of the regional control center.

Patimat Ibragimova was 39 years old and died in Botlikh Hospital, according to Shamil Khadulaev, head of the Public Monitoring Commission (PMC) of Dagestan. "Patimat Ibragimova, born in 1986, was caught in an avalanche in the village of Shaitli, Tsuntinsky District. She has passed away. My condolences to the family and friends of the deceased Patimat," his Telegram channel posted.

According to her relatives, she is survived by small children. "My sister left this world, leaving behind four minor boys," Chernovik quoted their post as saying.

The "Caucasian Knot" reported that six people have already died in Dagestan due to the severe weather that has been ongoing since the end of March. Five of them were flood victims in and around the village of Mamedkala in the Derbent District: a pregnant 17-year-old local resident, a 12-year-old child, a five-year-old girl and her grandmother, as well as 70-year-old Aminat Musayeva, who had been missing for three days. Additionally, in the village of Kirki in the Kaytag District, Kistaman Mazanova, a local village council member and a resident of a house destroyed by a landslide, died.
