Pashinyan announced his readiness to send humanitarian aid to Iran.

Armenia is ready to provide humanitarian aid to Iran if needed, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated. No influx of refugees has been recorded at the Agarak border crossing.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," on March 18, the Armenian Minister of Economy warned of inflationary risks due to the situation in Iran. If hostilities end quickly, the consequences are assessed as short-term, however, prices for a number of goods in Armenia have already risen.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced his readiness to provide humanitarian aid to Iran at a briefing on March 19, responding to a question about whether Tehran had sent a corresponding request to Yerevan.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran does not need to ask us for humanitarian aid, because we ourselves, if we see that there is any humanitarian need that we can support, will take this step,” Armenpress quotes the head of government as saying.

Pashinyan did not say what specific actions the Armenian authorities have already taken to prepare for a possible humanitarian crisis.

On March 18, Eduard Hakobyan, head of Armenia's State Revenue Committee, stated that the situation on Armenia's border with Iran is under control, but that there are no "significant problems" with either the movement of people or cargo at the Agarak checkpoint.

According to Hakobyan, movement rates "remain approximately at the same level as before," and all current logistical problems arise within Iran, Novosti-Armenia reports.

On February 28, Israel and the United States began strikes on Iran. Donald Trump announced the start of a large-scale military operation.
