A Tajik citizen was convicted in Rostov-on-Don for involvement in ISIS*.

Alimardon Karimov, while serving a sentence in a penal colony in Stavropol, swore an oath of allegiance to the leader of the terrorist organization Islamic State*.

The case of the Tajik citizen was heard by the Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don. Karimov was charged with participating in the activities of a terrorist organization (Part 2 of Article 205.5 of the Russian Criminal Code carries a sentence of ten to twenty years in prison).

The case was investigated by FSB officers for Stavropol Krai, according to a statement from the regional prosecutor's office. According to the prosecution, while in prison, the man "joined the ranks of a terrorist organization banned in Russia and expressed his willingness to act in its interests."

On May 24, 2023, Karimov, who was being held in a penal colony in Stavropol, made an audio recording in which he swore allegiance to the leader of the international terrorist organization Islamic State*, pledging to "unquestioningly carry out his orders." That same day, he sent the recording to an individual, who then passed it on to the ISIS leader, who then accepted the oath, according to the press service of the Southern District Military Court.

The court sentenced the Tajik citizen to 15 years in prison, with the first three years to be served in a special regime penal colony.

Karimov was born in the Nurobod district of Tajikistan and turned 32 on February 24, according to his entry in the Rosfinmonitoring register of terrorists and extremists. Alimardon Karimov's details were added to the list on December 29, 2025, according to a Telegram bot tracking list updates.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that the court refused to grant the appeal of two Tajik citizens convicted in 2025 of plotting an explosion in the Pyatigorsk City Court building.
