The head of a village in Chechnya has been accused of land fraud.

A criminal case against the head of a village has been sent to the Gudermes District Court. He is accused of using a false land register to give a local resident a plot of land, which the resident subsequently registered as his own.

Deputy Prosecutor of Chechnya Sergei Semenov approved the indictment in the criminal case against the head of the village administration.

According to the investigation, he intentionally produced, signed, and issued to a citizen an extract from a household register containing false information regarding the right to a 1,000 square meter plot of land. Based on this extract, the land was subsequently registered as property, according to a statement published on the website of the Chechen Republic Prosecutor's Office.

The official was charged under Part 1 of Article 292 of the Russian Criminal Code 1 and faces up to two years in prison. The criminal case has been sent to the Gudermes District Court for consideration on the merits.

Previously, "Caucasian Knot" reported that in 2018, the former head of the Pervomayskoye rural settlement was suspected of instructing a subordinate in 2013 to fill out extracts from a household register with false information about the ownership of land plots, each 1,000 square meters in size, by two local residents with the right of perpetual use.
