The deputy head of the Pyatigorsk administration has been arrested in connection with an abuse of power case.

A court in Stavropol has remanded the first deputy head of the Pyatigorsk administration, who is accused of abuse of office, to pretrial detention until May 5.

The Leninsky District Court of Stavropol has remanded the first deputy head of the Pyatigorsk administration, who is accused of committing a crime under paragraphs "g" and "e" of Part 3 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, to pretrial detention until May 5.

According to investigators, in 2020, she, along with unidentified individuals, helped win an auction for a commercial organization. The case concerns the reconstruction of hydraulic structures on the Alikonovka River in Kislovodsk, Kommersant reported on March 7.

As a result, more than 117 million rubles were transferred from the bank account of the Kislovodsk municipal services department to the bank account of the aforementioned organization, which was subsequently embezzled.

The arrested woman is Svetlana Marchenko, First Deputy Head of the Pyatigorsk Administration. At the time of the alleged crime, she was Deputy Head of the City of Kislovodsk and head of the auction committee. Two firms were bidding for the right to reconstruct the hydraulic structures on the Alikonovka River. According to investigators, Marchenko declared the second firm non-compliant with the auction requirements, thereby contributing to the victory of the first firm. The total contract value was 431 million rubles, of which 117 million were stolen, RIA Novosti reports.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that the Leninsky District Court of Stavropol sent the First Deputy Minister of Culture of the Stavropol Territory into custody in a case of multimillion-ruble theft during the organization of the All-Russian Creative Festival of Working Youth.
