The FSB reported on the prevention of a terrorist attack at a military airfield in Kuban.

According to security forces, the man was planning to set fire to an airplane at a military airfield in the Krasnodar Territory on orders from Ukrainian special services. He has been arrested.

During investigative operations, it was established that a Russian citizen, born in 1986, voluntarily contacted a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense via WhatsApp*.

On instructions from his handler, the man transmitted photos and videos from military facilities in the region to the Ukrainian side. He then prepared incendiary mixtures with which he planned to set fire to an airplane at a local airfield, RIA Novosti reported today.

He was detained while preparing the crime and is currently in custody. The Investigative Department of the FSB Directorate for the Krasnodar Territory is investigating the criminal case under articles of preparation for a terrorist attack and treason. The detainee faces life imprisonment.

The FSB for Krasnodar Krai published a short video of the suspect's arrest, in which he also pointed to devices, presumably used to set fire to an airplane, located in a hiding place.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that at the end of February, investigators referred to court the case of two teenagers from Krasnodar accused of committing a terrorist attack after setting fire to a battery cabinet on a railway. The young men are in pretrial detention.
