Six fighters from Dagestan were killed in Ukraine.

Kizlyar authorities presented awards to the relatives of six servicemen killed in combat in Ukraine. Since the beginning of the military operation, at least 1,801 soldiers from Dagestan have been officially recognized as killed in it.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," by February 2, at least 1,795 soldiers from Dagestan were officially recognized as killed in the military operation.

Murad Asadulayev, Shamil Nurmagomedov, Dmitry Ushakov, Yuri Kotekin, Nikolai Smirnov, and Movsar Kartoyev were killed in the military operation, the Kizlyar administration reported on its Telegram channel.

The awards presentation ceremony to the families of the servicemen took place at the Kizlyar military commissariat. All soldiers were awarded the Order of Courage posthumously.

The deaths of the soldiers from Kizlyar were previously reported in May 2025. At the time, authorities reported that Viktor Derbasov, Yevgeny Tikhonov, and Vyacheslav Velichkin had been killed in the military operation.

Authorities have officially recognized more than 8,550 fighters from southern Russia as killed in the military operation.

At least 4,213 fighters from the North Caucasus Federal District and 4,344 from the Southern Federal District have been recognized by authorities and security forces as killed during the military operation in Ukraine.

Thus, at least 1,801 fighters from Dagestan have been officially recognized as killed in the military operation.

"Caucasian Knot" maintains a list of names of natives of the North Caucasus Federal District and the Southern Federal District killed in the military operation. The list was compiled based on data officially released by government officials and law enforcement agencies, according to the Caucasian Knot report "Northern Military District Statistics: Casualties Mounting in Southern Russia."

State awards, memorial plaques, and appearances on Channel One do not guarantee state support for the families of those killed, according to the Caucasian Knot report "Three Comrades Served: How Authorities Are Denying Benefits to Families of Killed Volunteers," which describes the stories of the slain soldiers. "Staff from the St. Petersburg administration and the military registration and enlistment office themselves inquired from me whether my son's body had been found. In January 2023, I told them in response to another call that the body had been found," the mother of one of the soldiers said.
