Azerbaijani opposition figure Bakhysh has been arrested for 30 days.

Orkhan Bakhysh, an activist with the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan, has been placed under administrative arrest for 30 days. The court found him guilty of petty hooliganism and disobeying police. The party believes Bakhysh's arrest is politically motivated.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," on January 30, Anar Huseynov, an activist with the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA), was placed under administrative arrest for 30 days on charges of disobeying police and petty hooliganism. The party called the case against Huseynov fabricated and politically motivated.

Orkhan Bakhysh, a member of the PFPA youth committee, went missing on the morning of February 2, the PFPA press service told a "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"Orkhan left home on Monday morning to meet an acquaintance, and has not been in contact since. His family contacted various law enforcement agencies to clarify Orkhan's fate, but to no avail. It was only today, February 3, late in the evening that the Khatai District Court ordered Bakhysh arrested for 30 days. He was found guilty under Article 510 (petty hooliganism) and 535.1 (failure to comply with lawful orders of police officers) of the Code of Administrative Offenses of Azerbaijan. It is clear that the charges are fabricated. Orkhan was arrested for political reasons for his activity on social media and criticism of the authorities. He has already experienced the fate of a political prisoner," the party representative said.

Commenting on Bakhysh's arrest, PFPA Presidium member Saadat Jahangir noted that his detention is part of a broader campaign of persecution against party activists in recent weeks.

"Over the past two weeks, nine PFPA members have been detained by police for their political activities. Three of them were released, and six were sentenced to administrative arrests for terms ranging from 10 to 30 days. The country is increasingly sinking into a quagmire of repression," she told a "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

A Khatai Court employee confirmed Bakhysh's arrest to a "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. The Ministry of Internal Affairs was unavailable for comment.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that on November 29, 2025, State Security Service officers detained Ali Karimli and his advisor, Mammad Ibrahim, a member of the Presidium of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA). Both opposition figures were arrested for two and a half months, until February 13. Karimli was charged under Article 278.1 of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan (actions aimed at the violent seizure of power or the violent change of the constitutional order of the state). He denied the charge and called his criminal case political persecution.
