A court in Novoshakhtinsk sentenced local resident Vadim Davydenko to seven years in prison after finding his Telegram comments to contain calls for violence against Russian troops. Davydenko was also found guilty of illegally trafficking explosives for possessing 47 grams of gunpowder.

The first charge concerns a jar containing 47 grams of smokeless powder, which Davydenko found somewhere in Novoshakhtinsk between December 2020 and July 2025. According to the court verdict, he "appropriated the explosive substance" and hid it in his summer kitchen on Rimsky-Korsakov Street, where security forces later discovered the jar.

The charge of incitement to extremism concerns comments Vadim Davydenko left on Telegram from his phone in the same building on Rimsky-Korsakov Street in Novoshakhtinsk between February 2024 and February 2025. According to the prosecution, he wrote public comments in messenger groups with the aim of inciting others to violent acts against Russians, Russian nationals, and Russian military personnel.

Davydenko fully admitted his guilt, according to a press release from the court on its official website on February 2. The court sentenced him to seven years in a maximum-security penal colony, a fine of 50,000 rubles, and a three-year ban on publishing materials online after his release.

The case file on the court's website, where the defendant's name is redacted, indicates that the trial began in December 2025, and the defendant was sentenced on January 28. Even before the verdict, on January 14, 2026, Vadim Davydenko's name was added to the Rosfinmonitoring register of terrorists and extremists, according to a message from a Telegram bot tracking updates to the list.
