The decision to compensate car owners in Novaya Adygeya sparked a debate on social media.

In the village of Novaya Adygeya, 92 cars were damaged, 27 burned as a result of an air strike. Authorities announced payments of up to one million rubles to their owners. VKontakte users debated the extent to which such compensation would cover the damage.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot," on January 27, authorities announced that in addition to compensation payments to residents, they had decided to provide free repairs to damaged apartments. Authorities have received approximately 1,000 requests for financial assistance from affected residents, the district head reported. Commenters, as previously, inquired about whether payments to the owners of damaged cars are planned.

The head of Adygea, Murat Kumpilov, announced his decision to provide assistance to the owners of damaged cars on his Telegram channel.

"Commissions continue to inspect apartments and homes, recording the extent of damage. Currently, more than 1,400 apartments have been inspected, of which 981 apartments have been found to have property damage. After reports are compiled and the damage is assessed, decisions will be made on financial assistance, including for the owners of the burned-out cars," the official said on January 28.

According to preliminary information, 92 cars were damaged, and 27 burned, the regional head noted. "In the event of partial damage to a vehicle, owners will receive compensation of up to 500,000 rubles, and in the event of a total loss, up to one million rubles. The republic will cover these payments," the publication states.

As of 11:20 a.m. Moscow time on January 31, not a single comment had been posted under the official's publication. However, his information, posted in the "Overheard Krasnodar" community (262,900 subscribers), resonated with VKontakte users.

Many commenters considered the stated compensation amounts insufficient. "What if the person had an expensive car?" wondered Timofey Skoropad, among others. "They'll just pay them off with kopecks now and that's it," opined Ivan Grek.

"10,000 rubles is also "up to 1 million." And one thousand, too. But how does it sound – "up to a million," wrote Margarita Romanova. "The word "up" is confusing," agreed Galina Nosenkova.

"It's still interesting. What if someone bought a car on credit for 2.4 million [million], say, and this happened, and they tell you it's a million [million]. Yeah," noted Vitaly Gorban.

"Vitaly, I think there's already such a function, to insure against a drone crash," replied Tengiz Zarandia. "Tengiz, but I don't think everyone insured for this particular case," Liliya Goltsman joined the discussion.

Other users countered that it is better to receive the stated amount than no compensation at all. "Considering that a car is a luxury, a million [rubles] in compensation is very good," wrote Ivan Stefan, among others.

"Yes, it's a shame. But they survived, so that's good," opined Zaur D. "Zaur, well, that's the most important thing... It's completely unclear how 30 houses and 27 cars were damaged by drones," wrote Max Trushchev in response.

As a reminder, in Adygea, as in other regions of the Southern and North Caucasian Federal Districts, filming drone attacks and their consequences is prohibited. These prohibitions contradict the Constitution, which guarantees the inadmissibility of censorship and the freedom to search for, record, and disseminate information, lawyers pointed out.
