A professional MMA fighter from Dagestan has been arrested in connection with the beating of a woman in the Tver region. She suffered multiple injuries.

Law enforcement officers have arrested a 25-year-old native of Dagestan, a professional MMA fighter, in connection with the beating of a woman in the Tver region. The young man tied up the victim and struck her multiple times in the face and body before fleeing, the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs press service reported.

"The investigation unit of the Kalininsky Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia is investigating a criminal case under paragraph "c" of Part 2 of Article 112 of the Russian Criminal Code (intentional infliction of moderate bodily harm) against a 25-year-old resident of the Moscow Region, originally from the Republic of Dagestan. The young man is suspected of beating his 20-year-old girlfriend," TASS reported.

It has been preliminarily established that he was at the victim's home on December 19. During the conflict, the young man tied up the girl and struck her multiple times in the face and body before fleeing. During a hospital examination, doctors found facial fractures, hematomas, and a traumatic brain injury. "The victim required medical attention followed by long-term treatment," the department's website stated.

The young man also threatened to kill his parents and entire family, Tverigrad reports.

The suspect was detained in the Moscow region. Law enforcement officials noted that the detainee is a professional MMA fighter. "The suspect has been placed in a temporary detention facility. Police officers are petitioning the court to order pretrial detention for the young man," the Ministry of Internal Affairs website stated.
