A court in Rostov-on-Don convicted a son and mother of terrorist attacks.

The Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don sentenced Vladislav and Elena Zaytsev, finding them guilty of terrorism and sabotage on the territory of the DPR.

According to investigators, in 2018, Ukrainian citizen Vladislav Zaytsev joined a terrorist organization created by employees of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

In December of that year, he underwent training in handling explosives and then received components for an explosive device, which he kept at home, Kommersant reported on December 24.

Zaytsev He planted an explosive device on a high-voltage power line pole, photographed it for records, and detonated it. He then obtained the explosives, which he hid in a cache in the city of Yasinovataya. He also hid some of the explosives in the home of Elena Zaitseva's mother. That same month, on his mother's recommendation, he arrived at the railway crossing and blew up the tracks.

The court found Zaitsev and his mother guilty of terrorism and sabotage and sentenced them to 22 years in a maximum-security penal colony and 10 years in a general-security penal colony, respectively.

Previously, "Caucasian Knot" reported that on December 16, the Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don sentenced Ukrainian border guard Denis Storozhuk to 22 years in prison, finding him guilty of preparing a terrorist attack. His accomplice, Valentina Zayarnaya, was sentenced to 12 years.
