Former MP Ruben Hakobyan fined in Armenia

The court fined former member of the National Assembly of Armenia Ruben Hakobyan, finding him guilty of calling for the seizure of power.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot," in July, a Yerevan court remanded former member of parliament Ruben Hakobyan in custody, suspected of publicly calling for the seizure of power.

As a reminder, on June 25, security forces conducted over 90 searches in connection with the investigation into a plot to seize power in Armenia. By a court decision, Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, leader of the Sacred Struggle movement, and 14 other people have been remanded in custody.

A day earlier, on June 24, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that a coup had been prevented and published a document containing the text of the opposition's alleged plan to remove him from power.
