A resident of Adygea was convicted of recruiting for a terrorist organization.

A court sentenced a Central Asian man to 15 years in prison for allegedly attempting to recruit underage female residents of Maykop to a terrorist organization.

According to investigators, between September 2023 and August 2024, the 32-year-old adherent of radical Islamic ideas, while approving and encouraging the activities of an international terrorist organization banned in Russia, repeatedly held conversations, including via instant messaging, with underage female residents of Maykop.

The man was found guilty of participating in the activities of a terrorist organization 1 and of recruiting for a terrorist organization 2 . The case was opened based on operational materials from the regional department of the FSB, the press service of the Investigative Committee of Adygea reported today.

"The court sentenced him to 15 years in prison, with the first three years to be served in a prison colony, followed by a maximum security penal colony," the press service said in a statement.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that a criminal case for participation in a terrorist organization and preparing for a terrorist attack was opened against a 19-year-old resident of the village of Novaya Adygeya.
