The Abkhazian Prosecutor's Office found violations of the law in the actions of a Russian political strategist

Russian political strategist Ivan Revu has been charged with administrative violations of election campaigning rules and the deliberate destruction of competitors' posters, the Abkhazian Prosecutor's Office reported.

As reported by the " Caucasian Knot ," three Russian political strategists were detained on November 5, on the eve of the municipal elections  , at the office of the pro-presidential publication "Abkhaz Herald," which was being published without permits. According to Abkhazian media, the political strategists were expelled from the republic.

The opposition demanded the removal of "Team Abkhazia" candidates from the municipal elections, who were supported by Russians. On November 24, it was announced that three suspects had been placed on the federal wanted list in a criminal case involving an armed robbery in Abkhazia (against Russian political strategists). "Kana Kvarchia, Eshsou Kakalia, and Khyna Dumaa have been credibly implicated in the crime, and they have been placed on the federal wanted list," according to a statement on the website of the Sochi Department of Internal Affairs of the Krasnodar Krai Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Damages were estimated at 1.9 million rubles. The municipal elections, in which a team of Russian political strategists arrived, were aimed at eradicating political competition, and opposition representatives who interfered with their influence on the election results were subject to criminal prosecution in Russia, Abkhazian politicians stated, calling on the president to protect citizens' rights and the republic's sovereignty. Abkhazian President Badra Gunba stated that Abkhazian citizens, regardless of the crime they are suspected of committing, are not subject to extradition to another country in accordance with the Constitution.

The Sukhum Prosecutor's Office has opened administrative proceedings against Ivan Reva, a Russian political strategist. Specifically, charges have been filed under Article 41.19 of the Abkhaz Code of Administrative Offenses, which provides for administrative liability for conducting election campaigning by individuals prohibited by law; Article 41.20 of the Abkhaz Code of Administrative Offenses, which provides for administrative liability for the production, distribution, or posting of campaign materials in violation of legal requirements; and Article 41.22 of the Abkhaz Code of Administrative Offenses, which provides for administrative liability for the intentional destruction or damage of printed materials related to elections and referendums.

The Moscow prosecutor's office sent the administrative violation materials against Ivan Reva to the Sukhumi City Court, the Abkhazian prosecutor's office announced today on its website.

Akhra Smyr, publisher of the Abkhaz Herald, has also been held administratively liable, Aiashara reports. He has been charged under Article 41.20 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of Abkhazia for producing, distributing, or posting campaign materials in violation of the law.

The agency announced that the investigation into the complaints filed by Russian citizens Reva, Timofeev, and Budykin, as well as Kan Kvarchia, a member of the People's Assembly – Parliament of the Republic of Abkhazia, is ongoing. "Based on its results, a legal assessment will be made of the actions of all individuals involved in the events that took place on November 5, 2025, at the office located at 36 Abazinskaya Street in Sukhum, as well as the actions of those who illegally financed the local government election campaign," the agency promised.
