The case of attacks on police officers in North Ossetia and Ingushetia has reached court
Two residents of Ingushetia have been accused of armed attacks on police officers, which resulted in the death of three security officers and the wounding of twelve.
As reported by the " Caucasian Knot ," security forces killed six suspected militants during a counter-terrorism operation (CTO) in Karabulak on March 3, 2024. On March 5, sources reported that Amirkhan Gurazhev, Zelimkhan Tsuroyev, Magomed Barkinkhoyev, Tagir Tsuroyev, Mikail Tutayev, and Bers Chemurziev were killed.
On the evening of March 2, a counterterrorism operation was declared in a neighborhood in central Karabulak. The National Anti-Terrorism Committee (NAC) reported that militants opened fire on security forces while attempting to detain them. A shootout ensued, and residents of nearby buildings were evacuated. On March 3, the NAC announced that six Islamic State* militants were killed in the shootout, three of whom were on the federal wanted list. Later, Ingush investigators opened a criminal case against three individuals for aiding members of a terrorist organization and possessing weapons.
According to investigators, the defendants, acting as part of an illegal armed group created in Ingushetia between 2022 and March 2023, swore allegiance to the leader of the international terrorist organization Islamic State*, underwent combat training for the purpose of attacking security forces, and also financed terrorist activities, the Russian Prosecutor's Office for the North Caucasus and Southern Federal Districts reported today on its website.
According to the agency, as part of an illegal group, they carried out three attacks on police officers in North Ossetia and Ingushetia using firearms and explosives, resulting in the death of three police officers and the injury of twelve.
Two local residents are accused of financing terrorism., in the course of training by a person for the purpose of carrying out terrorist activities, in participation in the activities of a terrorist organization.
They are also accused of illegally acquiring, transferring, storing, transporting, and carrying firearms and ammunition, storing explosive devices, attempting to kill a law enforcement officer, and intentionally damaging someone else's property in a generally dangerous manner.
The criminal case has been sent to the Southern District Military Court for consideration on the merits, the department summarizes.
The "Caucasian Knot" also reported that in early March 2024, Chechen security forces checked the relatives of militants killed during the counter-terrorism operation in Karabulak living in the republic.
