Possible lease terms for the "Trump route" differ almost twofold.

Armenia and the United States are discussing two scenarios for granting the right to build the Trump Route project in Armenia: for 99 and 49 years, while the land will remain the property of Armenia, said Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. Construction work is expected to begin in 2026, but the implementation of the project may require border delimitation.

US President Donald Trump stated that the key issue that prevented the signing of a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan has been resolved, and this is the issue of the Zangezur corridor.

After the construction right expires, the property located on this land becomes the property of the Republic of Armenia, but the land itself always remains the property of the Republic of Armenia.

Pashinyan added that the discussions on this issue are exclusively financial and economic in nature and do not contain any political component.

In the first half of 2026 (the parties) must agree on all this, and in the second half, construction work will begin.

All details of the TRIPP (Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity) project are planned to be written down on paper by the end of this year, the project will be implemented at a very rapid pace, stated Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan spoke during government hour in parliament on November 12.

"In the first half of 2026, (the parties) should agree on all of this, and construction work should begin in the second half. That's the plan, but such plans usually have schedule deviations... There is information that the same team from President Trump's entourage is working on a number of key issues, and sometimes, for objective reasons, people are overloaded... We will do everything to ensure this schedule operates smoothly," the Novosti Armenia agency quoted him as saying.

The railway will run along the route that operated during the Soviet Union.

He specified the specific route along which communications will be laid as part of the TRIPP project.

"For example, the railway will run along the route that operated during the Soviet Union; building a railway elsewhere is unrealistic," Pashinyan said. According to him, the gas pipeline and power lines will be built in a radically different direction – significantly further north.

"Research has already begun on the ground. I can’t say whether (communications) will remain in the Syunik or Vayots Dzor regions or not; everything depends on many factors. "Everything is clearly written on the map, but the terrain makes its own adjustments," the prime minister noted.

As for the road section, Pashinyan stated that in all likelihood, all roads in the west and east directions will be integrated with the North-South international motor corridor.

Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan did not rule out the possibility of creating extraordinary sections for the delimitation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border to facilitate the infrastructure development of the TRIPP project. "The event of August 8 immediately led to the fact that there is a bilateral incentive to continue the delimitation process," the agency quoted him as saying.
