The head of Rostovvodokanal was convicted of disclosing state secrets.

A court sentenced Rostovvodokanal CEO Evgeny Yurkin to a term in a penal colony, finding him guilty of disclosing state secrets.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," in June, Rostovvodokanal CEO Evgeny Yurkin was detained and then arrested on suspicion of disclosing state secrets.

The Rostov Regional Court found Evgeny Yurkin guilty Under Part 1 of Article 283 of the Russian Criminal Code (disclosure of state secrets), he was sentenced to 1.5 years in a penal colony, Interfax reported today, citing the regional Federal Security Service (FSB).

The court concluded that Yurkin sent documents containing information about the location of the city's critical infrastructure via unclassified mail to the regional Ministry of Housing and Public Utilities. As a result, state secrets became known to a third party, donnews.ru reported today.

Part 1 of Article 283 of the Russian Criminal Code carries a sentence of up to four years in prison.

As a reminder, Yurkin took over Rostovvodokanal in September 2023. Prior to that, he worked for a long time at the company's subsidiary, Vodokanalstroykomplekt LLC, where he began his career as an engineer and later became CEO. He later held the post of Deputy General Director for Investments at Rostovvodokanal, combining this with managing a subsidiary company.
