Restrictions have been imposed on the operation of three airports in southern Russia.

Temporary restrictions to ensure flight safety have been introduced at the airports of Volgograd, Krasnodar, and Stavropol.

Around 00:00 Moscow time today, September 30, restrictions on the arrival and departure of aircraft at Volgograd Airport were introduced, Rosaviatsiya Press Secretary Artem Korenyako reported on his Telegram channel.

He traditionally noted that the restrictions were introduced to ensure flight safety.

Later, around 02:00 Moscow time, he also reported that restrictions had been introduced at three more airports, including the airports of Krasnodar (Pashkovsky) and Stavropol (Shpakovskoye).

As a reminder, since the 1990s, there has been talk of renaming Volgograd Airport to "Stalingrad." However, the airport was only renamed from "Gumrak" to "Stalingrad" after Putin intervened. On April 29, 2025, he announced his support for the initiative of veterans and participants of the Second World War, signing a decree on the renaming that same day. However, some citizens strongly opposed the renaming, recalling that under Stalin, 250,000 Stalingrad residents were repressed. At a meeting with the leaders of the Duma factions on September 18, Putin promised to consider the proposal of the leader of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Zyuganov to rename Volgograd to Stalingrad; social media users expressed dissatisfaction with the new discussion of this topic.
