A high-ranking security official has been detained in North Ossetia in a corruption case.

The head of the Russian National Guard in North Ossetia, Valery Golota, and several of his subordinates have been detained in a bribery case, law enforcement sources reported.

Several sources connected to law enforcement agencies reported the arrest of the police major general. According to them, the head of the republic's branch of the Russian National Guard is suspected of corruption.

"General Golota has been detained. Investigative actions are underway in a criminal case opened under Part 6 of Article 290 of the Russian Criminal Code (bribe-taking)," a source in the operational services, TASS, quotes a source.

Searchs of Major General Golota's office took place this morning, according to the SHOT Telegram channel. Meanwhile, the local publication Osnova reported that as of 6:08 p.m. Moscow time, FSB and Investigative Committee operatives were continuing their investigation.

Valery Golota, a native of Mineralnye Vody, has headed the Rosgvardia directorate for North Ossetia since 2021. He has received a number of awards, including the Order of Courage and the Medal "For Distinction in the Protection of Public Order."
