Azerbaijan reports attack on police by Khankendi resident

Armed resident of Khankendi of Armenian origin Karen Avanesyan tried to get to the venue of the events in the city, but was stopped by police. He threw grenades at them, opened fire, was wounded and detained, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan reported.

According to the department, Avanesyan took a Kalashnikov assault rifle, four magazines with ammunition, and five grenades that he had previously hidden in the forest near the city. Events were taking place in Khankendi at the time. Avanesyan tried to approach the site, but was stopped by police. He then threw three hand grenades and opened fire from a machine gun. As a result of return fire, Avanesyan was wounded and detained. One police officer was wounded.
