Prisoners in high-security penal colony deprived of food after complaining to Kadyrov*

Prisoners in a high-security penal colony addressed Ramzan Kadyrov with a complaint against the penitentiary institution’s administration. As a result, the convicts have been subjected to repression and deprived of food.

In their complaint, the prisoners reported about numerous violations and corruption schemes in the high-security penal colony. The complaint led to the prisoners being deprived of food during the holy month of Ramadan, sources of the “Caucasian Knot” reported.

The convicts’ complaint claims that the administration personnel from among the penal colony’s heads extort bribes from prisoners. In their complaint, the convicts also claim that sometimes the penal colony’s employees artificially create obstacles for the prisoners in obtaining letters with positive characteristics, despite receiving bribes.

The complaint also describes the regular confiscation of prisoners’ personal belongings, including clothing, shoes, and essential items. During the holy month of Ramadan, searches are being conducted during which the personal belongings of prisoners are being confiscated.

The prisoners asked Ramzan Kadyrov to intervene in the situation and ensure that the legal rights of prisoners are respected.

After the complaint, the repressions against the prisoners have been intensified, the NIYSO opposition Telegram channel reports. “The penal colony’s administration decided to respond not by correcting the situation, but by tightening the repressions,” the NIYSO opposition Telegram channel’s administration notes.

“There are maggots in the porridge, meat of unknown origin, and the food is permeated with a rotten smell. Everything is being done to ensure that the prisoners have to spend money in the prison store, which brings in millions of roubles to the penal colony’s administration every month. The situation with prisoners ... remains critical,” the NIYSO Telegram channel reports.

Coercion to be sent to the combat zone is widely used as a means of pressure on the prisoners, the NIYSO Telegram channel also reports. “Up to 30 people were sent to the special military operation (SMO) zone ... In addition, up to 70 people left the SIZO (pre-trial prison) in Grozny for the SMO,” a source of the “Caucasian Knot” concluded.
