Alexei Navalny’s commemorations held in cities of Southern Russia and Southern Caucasus

On the anniversary of Alexei Navalny's death, his associates have honoured the politician's memory in Russian cities, as well as in the capitals of Armenia and Georgia.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 16, 2024, Navalny died in a penal colony after his health condition had deteriorated sharply. Residents of Russian cities, including in Southern Russia, were persecuted for attempting to lay flowers in memory of Navalny at the memorials to victims of political repressions.

On February 16, people left flowers and candles at the Russian Embassy in Yerevan in memory of Navalny. One of the activists also held a solo picket.

In Tbilisi, Russian emigrants also honoured the memory of Alexei Navalny. More than a hundred people came to the rally in Pushkin Mini-Park. They held flowers and posters with the names of Russian political prisoners, the “RusNews” Telegram channel has reported.

In Volgograd, two persons were detained after laying flowers at the monument to victims of political repressions. According to the “Dozor in Volgograd” Telegram channel, Ilya Kravchenko, a former MP, and Maxim Tulin were taken to the police station.

Flower-laying ceremonies in memory of Navalny were also held in Novorossiysk, Rostov-on-Don and Batumi (Georgia).
