Kadyrov proposes excluding new Syrian leaders from list of terrorists

The leader of Chechnya voiced the idea of excluding the “Hayat Tahrir al-Sham”* grouping, which seized power in Syria, from the list of terrorist organizations. Ramzan Kadyrov also proposed sending Chechen law enforcers to Syria.

On December 1, militants from the “Hayat Tahrir al-Sham”* grouping forced Syrian government troops to leave Aleppo, which had been controlled by the army of President Bashar al-Assad since 2016. On the night of December 8, armed opposition militants entered Damascus. Bashar al-Assad left the presidential post and left the country. Sources reported that he arrived in Moscow together with his family members. By December 15, the situation in Aleppo had stabilized, and city’s residents had returned to their peaceful life routine, members of the Armenian diaspora reported.

On his Telegram channel, Ramzan Kadyrov outlined the idea of cooperation with the "new Syrian authorities” in order to “prevent a humanitarian catastrophe” in Syria.

“We are ready to send instructors from the Russian Special Forces University named after V.V. Putin to transfer their unique experience to the Syrian police,” the leader of Chechnya emphasized.

Ramzan Kadyrov has emphasized that President Vladimir Putin “has always pursued one goal: to help the long-suffering Syrian people” and noted that the Chechen people “have always been a loyal assistant and friend” of the Syrian people.

Let us remind you that residents of Russia are prosecuted on charges of collaborating with the “Hayat Tahrir al-Sham”* grouping. So, in November, a court found two residents of Dagestan guilty of assisting terrorist activity for transferring money to a member of the “Hayat Tahrir al-Sham”* grouping. Both defendants were sentenced to long terms of imprisonment.

On February 14, it became known that a court sentenced a resident of Sochi to 8.5 years of imprisonment, finding him guilty of transferring money to the “Hayat Tahrir al-Sham”* terrorist organization.
