Defence reports about Musaeva’s refusal to be hospitalized

Despite deterioration of her health state, Zarema Musaeva refused to be transferred to a hospital for fear of contracting the coronavirus, her advocate said. According to the defender, Zarema Musaeva is being kept in a separate cell of the Grozny SIZO (pre-trial prison) under the supervision of doctors.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that Zarema Musaeva, who suffers from diabetes, was placed under administrative arrest in a case on petty hooliganism, and on February 1, she was arrested until April 1 on the charge of assaulting a law enforcer. An ambulance was repeatedly called for the defendant to the court and the SIZO. On February 10, the Supreme Court (SC) of Chechnya considered a defence complaint against the arrest of Zarema Musaeva and a request to transfer her under house arrest because of her health state. However, the complaint and request were dismissed despite the fact that an ambulance was again called to the woman the night before the court hearing. “I’m dying quietly,” said Zarema Musaeva herself while speaking in court.

Natalia Dobronravova, an advocate of Zarema Musaeva, told the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent that her client’s condition was “really severe.”

According to the defence, Zarema Musaeva is provided with all possible medical treatment at the SIZO. “There are no complaints about the staff of the SIZO medical unit. They conducted examinations, including ultrasound testing and examination by a cardiologist and an endocrinologist. Medical treatment is underway. Doctors visit Zarema Musaeva several times a day. She is being kept in a separate cell, and she gets additional food,” said Natalia Dobronravova.

Meanwhile, Zarema Musaeva refuses medical treatment in the hospital and explains her refusal by fear of contracting the coronavirus in the hospital, the advocate reports.
