Students released in Abkhazia intend to apply to European Court

The three Georgian students released in Abkhazia are going to file a complaint to the European Court for Human Rights and to protest against their detention. The students returned to Zugdidi and informed journalists about their intention to apply to the United Nations with a request to set up a special commission on their illegal detention.

The students hope that the employees of the UN Mission who visited them at Sukhumi prison will perform as witnesses.

The Sukhumi Court passed a suspended 2-year custody sentence to students Korshiya, Gachava and Rigvava for trespassing the Abkhazian border, and then released them. In total, the students spent about 2 months at the Sukhumi isolation facility.
