Search for casualties' bodies during 44-day Karabakh war resumed

The remains of one serviceman who perished during the last autumn aggravation of the Karabakh conflict were found in the territory that came under Azerbaijan's control as a result of hostilities.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 18, 2021, the search for the bodies of those who perished in the territories that came under Azerbaijan's control were suspended.

On November 22, in the Varanda (the Azerbaijani name is Fizuli) District, employees of the Nagorno-Karabakh rescue service found the remains of another military serviceman, who perished during the 2020 44-day-long war. "The search for the bodies of the missing servicemen and civilians who perished during the [44-day-long] war, which was suspended in October, has been resumed. One rescue squad of the State Emergency Service under the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) was sent to search for the bodies," Unan Tadevosyan, the head of the MIA's press service, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to his story, "the remains will be identified after the forensic medical examination."

Mr Tadevosyan has added that since November 13, 2020, when the search for the bodies of the dead began, a total of 1698 bodies and remains have been found in the regions that came under Azerbaijan's control.
