Social network users question sincerity of Gezmakhmaev's relatives

The statements of the relatives of Suleiman Gezmakhmaev, in which they criticized him in reports of the "Grozny" ChGTRK (Chechen State TV and Radio Company) for his story about extrajudicial executions in Grozny, had been staged, Instagram users have suggested.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 24, Suleiman Gezmakhmaev's uncle said on air of the "Grozny" TV Channel that his nephew had been using psychotropic substances and fled Russia, owing large sums of money to people. Such public denials of people objectionable to Chechen authorities are temporarily protecting their relatives from claims, but for Gezmakhmaev's relatives, the problems are unlikely to end, human rights defenders have suggested.

The authors of many comments in the social network have doubted the sincerity of the posted statements and condemned Gezmakhmaev's relatives.

"They have so quickly disowned their relative," the user ben_2831 has stated.

The user akhmat.foodball has pitied the Gezmakhmaev's relatives who made statements. "Poor relative! He invents stories about his nephew! Probably, he says everything at gunpoint," he has suggested.

There were also those who discovered inconsistencies in the statements of relatives of the former law enforcer.

Earlier, the Chechen blogger, Tumso Abdurakhmanov, suggested that authorities were trying to undermine the credibility of Gezmakhmaev's story by unconvincing accusations against him; and they create an illusion of mass indignation of the Chechen public by posting same comments in social networks.
