Azerbaijani villagers explain motives of violators of ban on visiting Karabakh

Today, nine villagers have been detained in Azerbaijan for trying to enter into the non-demined territories of Nagorno-Karabakh despite the ban imposed by the authorities, the police report. Residents of the Terter District do not rule out looting among the motives of people who enter the restricted area, despite the risk of being blown up by mines.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 1, the police reported that Talekh Agalarov and Asad Agalarov, two residents of the Terter District, tried to bypass a checkpoint and to get into the village of Talysh, while two others – Amin Alibeili and Talekh Ibragimov – tried to enter the Agdam District despite the authorities' ban to visit the non-demined territories of Nagorno-Karabakh.

Last night, the police have detained nine persons who tried to enter the territory of the villages in the Fizuli District, which came under the control of Azerbaijan, the press service for the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Azerbaijan reports. All the detainees have been brought to a police station.

Mustafa Badalov, a local resident, has told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that many residents of the Terter District "just out of curiosity" visit the places where the battles took place. "They take pictures there and then post them on social media," the local resident said.

Ali Veliev, a resident of the Terter District, believes that those who visit the liberated territories may also have other motives. According to the man, villagers "also say that some people go there to find properties" abandoned by people who left those villages.
