Jabrailov's words that Alkhanov should resign in favour of Kadyrov were perceived ambiguously in Chechnya

The statement of Umar Jabrailov, Chechnya's Senator at the Council of Federation of Russia, on the need for Alu Alkhanov, today's head of the Republic, to pass over his authorities to Ramzan Kadyrov, head of the Cabinet of Ministers, caused an ambiguous reaction in Chechnya.

Yesterday, Umar Jabrailov, Chechnya's representative in the Council of Federation of Russia, declared that president Alu Alkhanov should pass over his powers to Ramzan Kadyrov, the prime-minister.

Mr. Alkhanov's opinion on this occasion was expressed by his press secretary Said-Magomed Isaraev who told in his interview to the "Echo Moskvy" radio that Alkhanov would not resign in favour of Kadyrov.

"There's no sensation in Jabrailov's statement," Salambek Saidov, 38, a resident of Grozny, believed. "In Chechnya, Alu Alkhanov plays the role of a "ceremonial bystander," while Ramzan Kadyrov is the master of the whole ceremony."

"I think that Umar Jabrailov not occasionally sounded the topic of Kadyrov's presidency right now. His brother was recently appointed vice-premier of the Chechen government. In case Ramzan Kadyrov really becomes the president, the younger Jabrailov has all the chances to take the post of the chairman of the government," a teacher of one of Grozny higher schools was convinced.

"If we believe to what people say, Ramzan Kadyrov is doing at least something, unlike Alu Alkhanov. But if they now start to clear out who of them is superior, serious collisions may burst out, since behind both of them armed people are standing, although no doubt that Kadyrov is much stronger," Yakhya, a resident of Chechen capital in the age of 60, expressed his conviction.
