Rapper Husky's case draws attention to trend of musical censorship

The release of rapper Husky, who was arrested in Krasnodar, did not solve the problem of relations between musicians and the authorities. The rapper Husky's case has turned out to be one among other cases of pressure on performers popular with young people, whose concerts are cancelled in different cities of Russia.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 22, in Krasnodar, rap singer Husky (Dmitry Kuznetsov) was detained while singing a song on a roof of a car. The court sentenced him to 12 days of arrest on the charge of hooliganism.

An action of other popular rappers in support of rapper Husky has caused a great resonance among colleagues and viewers, since the repression against musicians continues, notes a manager of rapper Husky.

"According to the available information, the blacklist of performers and the instruction to block their performances in the regions of Russia are issued by the FSB. The authorities suddenly started to deal with youth policy," wrote in his Telegram Channel Pavel Chikov, the head of the human rights organization "Agora".

The cancellations of music performances that have become frequent in Russia are initiated by the law enforcement bodies, pro-state organizations, and citizens whose actions are motivated by protection from "extremism" or "drug propaganda," Radio Liberty reports.
