Violence against journalists to be punished

Facts of violations of the rights of media staff at the public meeting in Baku on 26 November will be investigated by a group of officers of Azerbaijan's Internal Affairs Ministry and members of the Press Council. An agreement about that was reached at a meeting of Azerbaijan's Internal Affairs Minister Ramil Usubov with the Council. The minister promised to punish those police officers who used force against journalists.

More than ten journalists suffered during the dispersal of the public meeting in the capital of Azerbaijan on 26 November. Facts of violence against journalists have been condemned by many international organisations, including Reporters Without Borders (Reporters Sans Frontieres).
