In Chechnya, public employees forced to take part in rally against terror, local residents report

In Grozny, the Mayor's Office has reported about 30,000 people participating in an antiterrorist rally. Local residents report increased security measures and instructions from their superiors about mandatory participation in the rally.

After the terror act was committed at the Saint Petersburg metro on April 3, which killed 14 people, antiterrorist rallies were held in various cities, including in the south of Russia and Northern Caucasus.

Today, the rally has been held at the "Akhmat-Arena" Stadium. It has been attended by representatives of the authorities, religious figures, employees of public institutions and enterprises, activists of youth organizations, and students of higher education institutions and technical colleges, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

"People came to express their solidarity with residents of Saint Petersburg and honoured with a minute of silence the memory of the people who fell victim to the terror act. Once the rally was over, a football match was held between the teams of the 'Terek' and 'Arsenal' FCs, and our football players defeated the guests," reported an official of the Grozny Mayor's Office.

According to local public employees, they were instructed to take part in the rally without fail.

On the day before, in Grozny, institutions of higher and secondary special education also got an instruction to send their students to the rally.

Earlier, Volgograd residents also announced their voluntary-compulsory participation in the "Antiterror" rally.
