In centre of Derbent, residents of dilapidated houses do not agree to move to outskirts

Tenants of dilapidated houses who do not agree to move from the centre of Derbent intend to appeal to the Prosecutor's Office and the court. The people claim that officials are going to move them illegally. Officials have promised to organize for protesters a meeting with the Dagestani Minister of Construction.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 28, in the yard of the house No. 4 inLenin Street in Derbent, about 100 tenants of the houses, falling under the programme for resettlement of people from emergency and dilapidated housing, held a gathering to protest against the demolition of their houses.

Participants in the meeting have announced that they do not agree to move to the outskirts of the city. According to the protestors, construction of houses, where they are to be resettled, has been started in Stroitelnaya Street, which is situated in an industrial area.

At the gathering held in Derbent, Albina Abdulkerimova, a lawyer of the tenants protesting against their resettlement, has told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that when the authorities implement the project to resettle tenants of dilapidated houses in Derbent, the rights of citizens are violated.

"We will appeal to the courts and to all institutions to challenge those documents, regulations and rulings that affect the tenants of the houses," emphasized Albina Abdulkerimova.
