"ANS" TV Channel does not agree with court in evaluation of its coverage of coup in Turkey

The accusations of the Azerbaijani "ANS" TV Channel of the propaganda of terrorism, vandalism, and support of Fethullah Gülen during an attempted coup in Turkey are baseless. This was stated by staff members of the "ANS" TV Channel and lawyers. They intend to appeal against the decision of the Baku Court of Appeal (BCA) on withdrawal of the broadcasting license of the "ANS" TV Channel.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today, the BCA has annulled the license of the ANS, since it considered that the journalists had violated the law when covering the military coup in Turkey. Yet on July 18, the Azerbaijani National Television and Radio Council (NTRC) suspended the broadcasting of the "ANS" TV Channel for the fact that it voiced the assumption on simulation of the military coup in Turkey, during the suppression of which 265 people were killed and about 1500 other were wounded.

According to Mr Mamedov, the chief of the NTRC administration, during the military coup in Turkey, the "ANS" TV Channel conducted propaganda against the government of the country, "supported Fethullah Gülen and his followers, who organized the bloody events that resulted in losses of human lives."

Moreover, Mr Mamedov believes that the "ANS" TV Channel tried to highlight "the events as a show organized by the Turkish authorities."

The NTRC has accused the "ANS" TV Channel of "propaganda of terrorism", "vandalism", and contribution of "deepening of civil war" in Turkey.

According to Mirshakhin Agaev, Vice President of the "ANS" TV Channel, a correspondent in the United States just attended the press conference of Fethullah Gülen and did not interview him, and the "ANS" TV Channel did not intend to show him.
