RWF officials express their confidence in admission of wrestlers to Olympic Games

The international federation "United World Wrestling" will let Russian wrestlers, including athletes from the republics of Northern Caucasus, to participate in the 2016 Olympic Games. This was announced by the leaders of the Russian Wrestling Federation (RWF) after the International Olympic Committee (IOC) had decided to delegate to the federations the right to decide on the participation of athletes in the Olympic Games.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today, the IOC Executive Committee has pronounced the decided not to suspend the entire Russian team from the participation in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. Meanwhile, the IOC Executive Committee has delegated to the international federations the full authority on the admission of specific athletes and teams in specific sports.

The men's national team in freestyle wrestling, admitted to the Olympic Games, includes Kabardino-Balkarian natives Bilyal Makhov and Aniuar Geduev, Chechen native Anzor Boltukaev, Dagestani native Abdul Sadulaev, and Soslan Ramonov, a native of Tskhinvali, who represents North Ossetia. The women's team includes Dagestani native Milana Dadasheva, who also represents the Republic of Kabardino-Balkaria.

According to Emma Magomedova, the coach of the Russian women's national team in wrestling, the athletes "have no doubts about the positive outcome of the consideration at the IOC."

In turn, Alexander Karelin, the three-time Olympic champion in Greco-Roman wrestling, has stated that wrestlers from Russia are obvious contenders for Olympic medals.

68 athletes from the Southern Federal District (SFD) and the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) still claim for places at the national teams to compete at the Olympic Games. Meanwhile, 14 athletes from the above regions eventually lost the opportunity to participate in the Olympics.
