In Dagestan, girls announced suicide bombers by power agents left home after prohibition to wear hijabs

Today, Bege Akaev, a resident of Novokayakent village, Kayakent District, said that his daughter - Zaira, 20, and Zalina, 15, announced by the National Antiterrorist Centre of Russia to be potential suicide bombers, left home six months ago because of domestic conflicts.

"On that day I strongly scolded them for their wearing hijabs, and when I came home from work, Zaira and Zalina were not there. Nobody knew where they left; I addressed my application to the militia and started search by my own channels, but there were no news from the daughters until July 9," Mr Akaev told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

On that day an unknown person telephoned his elder daughter Zulfiya and told about detention of Zaira and Zalina by law enforcers.

"I don't know who was calling, but on that very day I left for Makhachkala; and on the following day in the building of Dagestanian FSB I and my wife met our daughters," said the detainees' father.

According to Akaev, problems started in his family after senior daughter Zulfiya had married.

"Her husband was religious, he taught her to pray, and she started wearing hijab. In 2008, he was killed, and militiamen said that he was a militant. Then, Zaira and Zalina started praying and also put on their hijabs. I wasn't against praying, but I was resolutely against them wearing hijabs; in my understanding such clothes could lead to tragedy," he said.

"Now I see that I was mistaken: I should have been more careful to my daughters and allowed them to wear hijabs," said Bege Akaev.

Let us remind you that on July 12 the information office of the National Antiterrorist Centre reported detention in Makhachkala of six women aged from 15 to 29 and two men. "Four of the women were widows of earlier liquidated leaders of the bandit underground, and two were earlier attracted to criminal liability for keeping arms and were registered as missing (those who left home)," the statement said.

According to power agents, one of the detained men "in March this year was delivering the female suicide bombers who committed terror acts in Lubyanka and Park Kultury Moscow metro stations, and before their departure he was involved by the bandit underground in accommodation and maintenance of female terrorists."
