Mouldy Khabaev, convicted of the 1995 attack on Budyonnovsk and serving his sentence, was sentenced to six years in prison for assaulting a prisoner.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," in October 2013, a court in Stavropol Krai sentenced Mouldy Khabaev to 14 years in prison. In February 2014, the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation upheld the sentence.

The Frunzensky District Court of St. Petersburg found convicted Muldy Khabaev guilty of disrupting the operations of a penal colony, Kommersant reported on December 26.

Khabaev has been serving his sentence in Correctional Colony No. 6 since 2024 under a similar charge. Last September, he attacked a prison employee, punching him in the chest. The attack was precipitated by a guard's refusal to provide the prisoner with an Islamic prayer rug; prison regulations prohibit issuing them to prisoners.

The court sentenced Khabaev to six years in a maximum-security penal colony, taking into account his previous sentence.
