Supporters of European integration held a march in Tbilisi
Demonstrators gathered outside the Georgian parliament on the 377th day of continuous protests and marched through central Tbilisi, calling on citizens to join the protests.
As reported by the " Caucasian Knot ," daily protests have been taking place in Georgia for the second year now, demanding new parliamentary elections and the release of all those detained for participating in the demonstrations. Demonstrators have blocked traffic on Rustaveli Avenue for 343 consecutive days. Since November 6, security forces have prevented activists from blocking traffic, setting up a human wall of police officers along the roadway. Protesters have been detained for attempting to enter the road. On December 8, the 376th day of continuous protests, protesters marched to the Georgian Ministry of Health building.
Georgian citizens, who gathered today, on the 377th day of continuous protest, outside the parliament building on Rustaveli Avenue, marched through the center of Tbilisi, Interpressnews reports.
Activists are making consistent demands: calling new parliamentary elections and releasing all those arrested for participating in the protests. At the same time, they reiterated the use of toxic substances against participants in mass protests a year ago, in November and December 2024. During the march, protesters chanted "Georgia, rise up, rise up!" and shouted at local residents that they were poisoned by the Georgian Dream party a year ago.
Police prevented marchers from entering the roadway even in narrow alleys, forcing them to walk only on sidewalks. "Police regularly demanded that demonstrators clear the street and walk only on the sidewalk," Tbilisi_life reports.
There were verbal altercations between security forces and activists, but no arrests were reported during the march. After a while, police interrupted the protest march, blocking several streets and preventing the activists from continuing. "After law enforcement refused to allow them to proceed even along Chitadze Street, the marchers returned to the parliament building via 9 April Street," Publika reports.
